Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Kissimmee, Florida

The city of Kissimmee spans 21.95 square miles and is located at the heart of Osceola County, Florida. The city has bright and sunny days all year round and even during the winter season it remains warm. It has a constantly growing population of 61,000 and Kissimmee city movers are always kept busy by the number of people who want to move there. What makes Kissimmee such an attractive moving destination is its proximity to the majority of tourist destinations in Florida. It is only minutes away from the airport, the hotels and other worthwhile sites in the area.

Economy:
The city is an ideal place to start both a family and a business. Perhaps this is the reason why so many are moving to Kissimmee. Because of its central location, businesses are able to easily transport goods in and out of the area. The most popular economic industry in Kissimmee is trade, both retail and wholesale. This is followed by the Healthcare and Real Estate industries. Majority of the City’s workforce are employed in the services and trade sectors.

History:
The name Kissimmee is said to be derived from the name of an Indian tribe community that settled in the area. It was a tribe of Jororo Indians and when the Spaniards came to the area a mission site called “Atissimi” was created. According to the Historian Jerald Hann, the city’s name could have been derived from this.

In the 1800s, the area where Kissimmee is located was originally a trading post community called Allendale. It was sold to Hamilton Diston after the civil war along with its surrounding properties. Philadelphia was said to be in dire need of finances and the $1 million it received from Diston for the properties saved it from an economic disaster. Diston further developed the trading community and focused on deepening the Kissimmee River.

The community was eventually incorporated into a city in 1883. Its population continued to grow in the succeeding years as more industries were developed.

Tourism:
Kissimmee is a popular tourist destination because of its proximity to the airport and sites like Disney Land. One activity that might interest visitors is a balloon ride. It’s definitely a unique experience that can’t be missed by tourists who want to make the most out of their visit.

For hikers and nature lovers there’s also the Disney Wilderness Preserve with its diverse wildlife. An airboat ride is also a great option for people looking for a little speed. The ride offers a great view of the local wildlife and scenery.

Another great family spot to go to is Old town. It has everything from food, accommodations to car shows and shopping. Old town is definitely a nice place to visit any day of the week, but you might want to go on a Friday if you’re after the car show.
