Who is AMSA?

Established in 1936, the American Moving and Storage Association is a non profit trade association based out of Washington D.C. With more than 3,500 professional mover members, AMSA is dedicated to making your move successful every step of the way. AMSA moving company members are professional movers moving interstate household goods (between states). In addition, these companies may provide intrastate and local moving services as well as storage in a warehouse. AMSA represents all facets of the moving and the storage industry: van lines, agents, independent movers, forwarders, international movers, auto transporters, suppliers and others.

AMSA carefully screens its mover members, ensuring that consumers are matched to movers who have met all licensing and insurance requirements, and providing for arbitration of disputes between consumers and movers through its "Household Goods Dispute Settlement Program." One of AMS''s goals is a well-informed public that better understands the value of professional moving service.

The American Moving and Storage Association is a member-driven and offers a complete range of services to its members.

AMSA members transport between 1.3 and 1.5 million households each year.

Homestead, Florida

Homestead is the second oldest city in the Miami-Dade County. It is located near the southernmost tip of Florida. It is nestled between Biscayne National Park to the east and Everglades National Park to the west.  It got its name from “Homesteaders Trail,” which was a path used by homesteaders to come in and out of South Dade when the area was opened to them in 1898. Those moving to Homestead will discover a place with a hometown atmosphere that welcomes visitors; this comes from a community that is proud of the continuing accomplishments that are making the Homestead area an increasingly desirable place to work and raise a family. Many people are voving to Homestead,  for that unique “small-town” atmosphere with all the urban amenities.

Economy:
Homestead is in the 28th position in the top highest-paid states. The mean salary of the city is about $45,037, which makes Homestead an economically stable region. The area’s strategic location also makes Homestead a viable destination for visitors.  The business generated by tourism is a key factor in the economic stability and growth of the community. The area has attracted such investors as the Homestead Miami Speedway, Sedano’s, Wal-Mart, Home Depot and Office Depot.

It has also moved into a technological economy. The industries being targeted to provide employment to its increasing population include biomedical, film/entertainment, financial services, information technology, international commerce, telecommunications and the visitor industry.

Tourism:
Tropical South Florida’s warm sunny winters bring in millions of visitors each year. With numerous tourist spots in the area, Homestead plays host to many visitors --  with some who eventually decide to make this their permanent home.  Among the frequently visited sites are the Everglades National Park, the Biscayne National Park, the Knaus Berry Farm, the Everglades Alligator Farm, the Elliot Key Campsite, Camp Owaissa Bauer, the Fruit & Spice Park and The Boardwalk.

History:
Four thousand years ago, Indians inhabited the southern tip of Florida. Pirate smugglers, gun runners and revolutionaries roamed area waters centuries ago. The area south of Miami was opened to homesteaders in 1898.  Due to its strategic location, the Homestead area prospered with the Florida real estate boom in the early 1920s. In 1926, a major hurricane destroyed the overseas railway.  In 1945, another severe hurricane struck and demolished the World War II airfield.  Almost 50 years later, Hurricane Andrew blew through deep south Miami-Dade county leaving a wave of destruction in its path.  But true to the pioneer spirit that created the area, the people of the Homestead community picked up, rebuilt and restored.
