Wal-Mart, headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas, transformed this town and nearby Rogers, Springdale and Fayetteville into one of America's fastest-growing metropolitan areas. Arkansas offers residence ideal conditions for retirement and relocation.

Some of the larger include: Wal-Mart Stores, Tyson Foods, Dillard Department Stores, Beverly Enterprises and Alltel. Arkansas has become a leading producer of poultry, raising over one billion broiler chickens a year; turkeys, dairy goods, and catfish are also important. Tourism is also very important to the Arkansas economy; the official state nickname "The Natural State" was originally created for state tourism advertising in the 1970s, and is still regularly used to this day. In recent years, automobile parts manufacturers have opened factories in eastern Arkansas to support auto plants in other states.
