There are basically three interview categories.

  1. Screening interviews
  2. Selection Interviews
  3. Confirmation Interviews
Screening Interviews
Screening interviews are usually held because there are a large number of candidates and the hiring company want sot get this down to a smaller number that they will see in person. Screening interviews are usually held over the phone so being prepared for these calls is key.

Be prepared to discuss and of the following..
  • Be able to discuss your resume and cite examples that verify the information
  • Respond to questions in an open and honest way that communicates to the interviewer that you have nothing to hide.
  • Be able to discuss why you are interested in the specific position

Selection Interview
The selective interview will generally be held in person with the interviewers at a location of their choice, generally the office building they work at. If you are called to a selection interview your qualifications are no longer an issue in the hiring decision. You should therefore focus on what you can bring to and contribute to the company.

Confirmation Interview
These are really formalities as the decision is most likely already made and you have the position. The hiring manager may want to introduce you to his or her boss as a matter of formality before actually offering you the position.
