  • Teflon was invented by Roy J. Plunkett of New Carlisle, Ohio in 1938.
  • America’s very first traffic light came in to operation on August 5, 1914 in Cleveland.
  • Toledo native Fredric Baur was so proud of the 1966 container he designed for Pringles potato chips that he requested his family bury him in one. His request was duly granted in 2008, when his cremated remains were buried partly in a Pringles can and partly in an urn.
