Strengthen your Back
Originally we were promised a Saturday delivery of our dining room set from NH to CT while my son was in his US apartment - on home-leave from Norway. Then they wanted to move it up to a Friday delivery - which he agreed to, as it was late in the day, and might not interfere with work.
That did not happen - while we were enroute from NH to CT to see our son, we were told that there was only the driver on the truck - no one to assist with the 3rd floor delivery of our big and expensive dining room set. We'd have to supply the additional manpower, or take an unknown delivery date 2-3 weeks out, when my son would be back in Norway.
So my son and father/father-in-law supplied the manpower that had been promised by the moving company. They knocked off $75 for our labor after some negotiating - but we did not find that acceptable.

Response from Preferred Movers
We had originally agreed to deliver the set over the weekend, but another customer required a weekend delivery in Washington DC. We called and changed the delivery date to late Friday. On Friday morning another customer, who we were moving to assisted living, fell and ended up being rushed to the hospital. We did not know the extent of her injuries until late Friday afternoon, at which time the shipment was put on hold, and we were now a day late.
We left on Saturday due to circumstances beyond our control, and advised the customer that we would deliver the dining room set on our return from Florida at a later date. Instead it was decided to assist in the delivery and $75.00 was deducted from the cost. The actual price quoted was always $800, and the customer was charged $725 so the pricing complaint is not valid.
We apologized for the unexpected delays and never expected this chain of events. On a brighter side, the other customer who broke her hip is recovering in rehab and we are picking up her shipment today.
