Bestway Moving is Not the Best Way
I recently booked a move from Lorton ,Virginia to Baltimore, Maryland and then to Laurel, Maryland. The
movers were polite but extremely slow and took advantage of using supplies for a profit. It took them 2-3 hours to pack a one bedroom apartment. Within this one bedroom apartment the only items were the following; 2- 32’ flat screen televisions, a loveseat and sofa, and queen size bed with dresser, Chester and night stand and 10-12 medium size boxes that were already sufficiently packed and taped (I was trying to be cost effective). The movers were taping items that were already securely taped. When I noticed, I told them those items are already taped and they stopped but they used 5 rolls of tape that was unnecessary. The only items I left for them to pack securely were the 2 flat screen televisions for safe and secure transport. As I review the bill to pack the 2 flat screen televisions totaled $40 and I am missing the cord to one of the televisions, therefore the television does not turn on. The drive time from Lorton Virginia to the locations in Baltimore is 65 miles (travel time 1hr 23 mins). At this location the movers moved 1 queen size bed which included only a mattress and a bed frame (no box spring), one large 8 foot mirror and miscellaneous bags and boxes. Move totaled 50 minutes. Dispite traffic movers manage to arrive to the Baltimore locations in 1.5 hours. To travel from the locations in Baltimore, Maryland to Laurel, Maryland 26 mile (Travel time 36 minutes) it took the movers approximately 2 hours. They eventually arrived at 3:15pm. From that point to the time they were finishes was about 4 hours. Throughout the process, I contacted the companies office 3 times the day of my move and left 3 separate messages. One of the movers was young and tired when he arrive to my first location. He was moving slow and the other worker was doing most of the work. I have moved seven times in the last 10 years and by far this has been my worst move yet. No one from the office contact me so I followed up on the following Tuesday. I spoke to a customer service rep who set up my move and told me I did not call the office and leave any messages because she was working that day or they would have returned the call on the following Monday like the message said on the answering machine. She was extremely rude and excused me of basically lying about the phone calls. Of course, I have a phone log and records to confirm these calls but for someone in customer service to show no remorse or concerns for a customer's unsatifactory move is not acceptable and does not reflect positively on the entire company. Mover’s arrived at my address (Lorton VA) at 9:00 am (They were to arrive between the hours of 8-9am.) In the end, my bill totaled $722.92, but I was quoted $290... I knew it would be a little more not triple the cost.
