Worst Move Ever

This moving company was great at first and then went from bad to worse...resulting in them not even finishing my move but rather leaving my leather couch in the hallway at my apartment complex because they "couldn't fit it through the door". Well, thank goodness my 70-year-old dad still has the brains and apparently the brawn because he along with my mother and I were able to finish my move by simply removing the door temporarily...My stuff was spread out all over my apartment with the living room literally filled from corner to corner with boxes/furniture just haphazardly placed about. Kitchen stuff was in the bedroom, living room stuff in the bathroom - all well marked and well packed. The movers were over an hour late to the job, brought a truck far too large for the job (moving from a 10'x10' storage unit to a 1 bedroom in a building 5 blocks away), took 1 hour to load the 1st 2/3rds of my stuff and somehow took 2 hours for the final 1/3 which was mostly boxes. Then they got lost on the way to the apt...again 5 blocks away...and when a friend of mine and I go to look for them they are driving the wrong way down my street having turned around in their gigantic truck blocking a busy street of traffic. Upon finally arriving at my building, they attempt to hold my things hostage as they refuse to unload the truck until I sign the paperwork - which includes a statement saying nothing was damaged...how am I supposed to know that unless they unload the stuff?? The office staff was even worse when I would call to figure out what was going on I got the run around and eventually was told by the manager to "not make up stories so I could pay what I want"...hmmmm. That brings me to the final part of the story...the amount quoted was $235 for 2 hours of work...final cost was $415 but it would have been more had I not argued with them...Found out later that your final cost should never be more than 15% of your quote...oops. So moral of the story is don't ever use Seaport Moving they are a crafty bunch of people who do not care about you, your belongings or your business.

I have moved a lot and this moving company is the best I have hired. They are very friendly and take really good care of your belongings.
