NYC-N. Carolina Move
Basic Moving's representative was helpful and professional at the outset of my move. Workers seemed to do an good job of packing.
However, upon delivery, an expensive chair had a completely severed leg, the dining room table top was broken, a captain's table was splintered. and a cabinet had an (easily repaired) broken piece. An antique grandfather clock no longer functions. It is clear that the furniture had been badly abused when out of our presence or in transit.
The movers took pictures of the damage except for the clock. I estimate the value of our loss at at least $10,000 to $20,000, depending on whether the clock can be repaired. The company reimburses such loss at the rate of 60 cents per pound, and I am left to deal with the insurors.
After the move, the rep. called to enquire whether the move was satisfactory. I told him of the damage, which he said he was unaware of (this, of course is the only thing that matters). I would not recommend Basic Moving.
