Glad It's Over
Where do I begin...when forced to reschedule our pickup date due to closing delays Across USA made no comment about the projected delivery date needed to change. So our expectation was that our stuff would arrive the day of our closing. Four days before scheduled pickup Across USA called to say that the delivery date would be five days later than expected and said they were doing whatever they could to expedite the delivery. On pickup day, the movers who arrived were unprepared. Across USA sent a representative early on to do an inventory and survey to assess each pickup location, including a 54" high upright piano on the second floor of a townhouse with wood floors. We were told the floors would be protected and the piano would be crated. The
movers arrived and were surprised to see a piano. They saved it until the end and struggled to move it to the top of the stairs. With no floor protection, they gouged the finish off the 1.5 year old wood floors in five places. They then gouged large holes in the walls at the top of the stair landing. After three unsuccessful tries to navigate the landing (90 degree turn), I told them to stop and get real piano movers to do the job. AU told us to claim the damages on our homeowners insurance policy-- absolutely no protection of the wood flooring was used, contrary to what we were told. They did send a piano crew the next day to retrieve the piano and those movers were very professional. One day before our expected delivery date we receive a call from the driver saying they'll be delivering our stuff in another five days. We had to "camp out" in our empty house for a week and when they arrived they only had two men to unload the truck. I ended up helping them unload everything and assembled most of it myself - again contrary to what we were told. The laborers (movers and driver) were hardworking, good people. The management of the company needs help, and thus I would not recommend this company to anyone.
