Terrible Experience with Ideal Movers
We had a terrible experience with Ideal Movers. We received our moving estimate over the phone, which we were initially reluctant about since they did not give an in-home estimate. On moving day, they arrived late and they failed/forgot to pack our bathroom stuff, so we ended up taking care of that ourselves. We took down all outside equipment ourselves (swing set, etc), and in the middle of loading the truck they told us all of our belongings would not fit. We needed to move the rest ourselves or incur a very large fee. So we made two trips back and forth to move the remainder of our belongings. Our truck was supposed to arrive at our new home the next day. We had confirmed this repeatedly on move out day. However, when we called during our closing to say we were on the way, the owner, Jeff, informed us that our belongings would not be available until the next day because he had sent this crew out on another job and there was a delay. He refused to send a different crew to unload, saying they prefer to use the same crew for loading and unloading. So we had to wait an extra day to get our belongings. We only moved 40 miles away! When the movers arrived (1/2 a different crew anyway), we were told that we needed to pay an additional $2300 or they would not unload. They reason they gave is that the overall weight exceeded the estimate. We had been told that even if this happened they wouldn't charge more, but there they were, parked in our driveway, extorting us. We called our attorney at that point. Eventually, we wound up having to pay $400 over the estimated price, just to get our things unloaded. We are furious with the way we were treated and extorted from. This company acted unprofessionally and unethically and we are disgusted with the way things went.
